Welcome to Reception

We have had a busy and exciting first half term in reception making lots of new friends and settling in to our new school.

This half term our topic has been focused around Autumn. We have been collecting natural objects associated with the autumn time and making autumn pictures.

We used some our autumn leaves to decorate our reading area. These look really sparkly because Mrs Hurley loves glitter!!!!!

We have made a really good start to our phonic learning. We are learning a new sound every day now. We enjoy doing the little actions with each sound as it helps us to remember them. We are also starting to blend sounds together to make a little word.

In our writing we have been mark making. This has included writing our name and making lists. We have enjoyed making lists for things needed to go on a bear hunt. We also enjoyed describing a huge teddy bear that was brought into the classroom.

Our numeracy work this half term has included lots of counting and recognising numbers. We like to sing songs to help us remember our numbers and number patterns.

In R.E. we have been talking about God`s world and how we can look after it. We also learnt about The Creation Story.

We look forward to our next half term where we will be learning about night and day and the Nativity Story.
