Welcome to Year 5 - from Mrs Gill and Mrs Maiden

In Year 5 we aim to work extremely hard and also to have as much fun learning as we possibly can. This is the year when we encourage children to grow into Upper Juniors, so that they will be ready for the challenges of being Year 6 next year!

Homework is set on Fridays and is due in on Mondays. Typically, homework would include some Maths and Grammar/Spelling/Punctuation work.

Please encourage your child to read a little each day and sign their reading record. Also, please practise times tables with your child. By the end of Year 5, they should aim to know them all.

P.E. kit is needed on Wednesdays.

Watch our page for updates and news items and have a look at our Curriculum map and Weekly Timetable below.

We are all looking forward to a successful and eventful year ahead!

Congratulations to our VIP:

Very well done to our Star of the Week:

No Star of the Week this week

In Literacy we have been looking at The Prestigious Purple Palms Hotel, identifying persuasive adjectives and revising nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Also, we have been learning to understand different tenses of verbs, as well as identifying relative clauses. It's a shame that Purple Palms doesn't actually exist, but it's definitely helping us get excited for the summer holidays!

This week we have been doubling 2 digit & 3 digit numbers using partitioning to help!
