British Values in the EYFS
British Values is at the core of our teaching and learning in EYFS. The following British Values are promoted all the time through our continuous provision activities.
- Democracy
- The rule of law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
Examples of how these are incorporated include weekly votes for children to get a certificate, having a choice at story time, encouraging turn taking during play and specified time during the week to speak about our emotions. Children have an input into our class rules and every suggestion is considered.
Our children are very proud to be part of our school community which is rooted in mutual respect.
In addition to promoting our British Values during continuous provision, we also have a British Themed week. During this week we learnt about Remembrance, The British Flag, had a circle time to listen to how others are feeling, learnt about the history of the Royal Mail and carried out lots of votes which had to be counted by our adjudicators.
