Headteacher's Welcome

I am privileged to become the first male Headteacher of St Pius X Catholic Primary School & Little Lambs Nursery, from September 2017. The pupils, staff and Governors are all very proud of our school and we strive to ensure that St Pius X provides a happy, caring and safe environment where everyone works hard to allow children to achieve their full potential. Our aim is to give our pupils the skills to become life long learners so that they can become exemplary citizens of the future. Ofsted (November 2018) acknowledged that - 'Leaders have successfully established an ethos which focuses on compassion for others and prioritises the well-being of pupils, parents, carers and staff. In a positive and supportive environment, pupils become confident learners.'

St Pius X is a welcoming school, at the heart of a very strong community, with dedicated staff, who have excellent relationships with pupils and their families. At St Pius X we pride ourselves on being one big family. We are proud of our working partnership with parents and endeavour to involve them in school life, e.g. Parent Voice, Come and Learn sessions and an active Friends of St Pius X. This was highlighted by Ofsted (November 2018) -  'The headteacher has developed strong links with parents and carers who really appreciate the ‘family’ ethos and how well the school cares for their children.'

Here at St Pius X we have worked hard to refine our curriculum to ensure consistency and progression. Our curriculum involves many exciting and creative learning opportunities, inlcuding many opportunities for cultural capital opportunities. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum. Being a Catholic school our curriculum and ethos are based upon the key teachings of our faith, centred around the Gospel Values. Our Section 48 (Religious Education) Inspection (November 2019) summarised that - 'The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils is very good and has an impact on everyday life at St Pius X.' & 'Gospel values permeate the school and pupils are helped to grow in their spirituality, make the most of their abilities and nurture their faith.'

St Pius X is on a rapid journey to improve the quality of education and outcomes for our pupils. Ofsted (November 2018) recognised, 'Leaders have an accurate picture of the school’s strengths and weaknesses. Since being appointed, the headteacher has brought a greater focus to efforts to raise standards.'

We provide an extensive range of extra-curricular activities throughout the year including Art & Craft, STEM, Multi-Skills,. Laudato Si', Football, Choir, Dance, Netball, etc. In addition, we offer a Breakfast and After School Club from 7.30am until 5.30pm.

We understand that deciding the right school for your child is an important and often difficult decision.  We believe the best way to understand and appreciate what St Pius X has to offer is to come and visit our wonderful school. We promise you'll be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome.  We would be delighted to show you around our lovely school.
